Amalric Walter and Henri Bergé "Crabe" Pâte de Verre Glass Paperweight
This "Crabe," or "Crab," pâte de verre glass paperweight, by Amalric Walter and Henri Bergé, is decorated with a relief of a reddish-brown crab poised upon a bright contrast of green and yellow algae. The charming creature, who looks upward upon the viewer in a benign, friendly manner, is expertly rendered in the deepest reds, tinged with brownish hues and accented with lovely yellow to liven his knobbly frame. The small eddy, the swell of algae green water upon which he sits, is wonderfully shaped and elevated, to give the lovely crustacean a substantial perch.
