Created in the 1870s-1880s, this pendant locket is composed of turquoise, split seed pearls, and 15K gold. The oval pendant is diagonally set with intertwined braids of cabochon turquoise flanked by split seed pearls and a sawtooth motif, opening to double glazed compartments. A beloved antique form elevated by a dynamic and colorful motif, this unusual locket holds two images of loved ones near the heart.

Lockets might be suspended from a substantial gold chain, or, for a change of pace, from velvet strap. Jeweled lockets containing images and other sentimental mementos were one of Queen Victoria's favored gifts to her children and grandchildren.
