Great European jewelry houses looked to India again for inspiration in the 1960s and 1970s, drawing inspiration from the stylized naturalistic motifs and forms of traditional Indian jewelry. Bulgari created beautifully-made earrings and brooches of Indian inspiration as it advanced toward its highly distinctive modern style, characterized by contoured forms, bold color and volume. For these extraordinary earrings, Bulgari selected unheated Burma rubies, one of the scarcest and most prized gem materials.
